Low Intensity Laser Therapy

As research progresses we see laser and laser light used effectively in a variety of medical practices more and more each day. Low Intensity Laser Therapy (LILT) was first developed in the 1960’s and is by no means a new technology. The studies and clinical trials that have been conducted over the years have enabled the development of the most up-to-date equipment and application of LILT. We pride ourselves in being amongst the best in laser technology. All of our treatments at our Wellness Center are provided by a Certified Technician.

How it works…

LILT is the use of red, infrared, and low-intensity laser light to increase cell function and efficiency to promote healing. The light (photon energy) is placed in contact with the skin to allow it to safely penetrate tissue. It is then absorbed by the tissue (muscles, ligaments, tendons, and joints) and transformed into a biochemical energy that the body can use. Cells use this light energy to repair, regenerate, and multiply themselves enhancing the body’s natural healing process.

LILT is an effective solution for the treatment of soft tissue injuries, chronic and degenerative conditions, dermatological problems, post-surgical recovery, and wound healing. Laser therapy has been proven to reduce the need for medication, improve the outcomes of conditions treated, and increase the healing rate of affected tissue. The beneficial effects are cumulative over the course of a series of treatments. The initial pain relief is due to accelerated release of endorphins and increased cortisol production (our body’s natural pain relievers). The more important long-term effects are a result of progressive therapy. LILT includes the application of a cold laser, therefore no pain is associated with treatment and there are no side effects.
