FAQ
How many treatments are required?
The number (and duration) of treatments required will vary with regard to each individual patient. Each treatment is typically 30-60 minutes in length and treatment plans generally range from 15-25 treatments. During the complimentary consultation prior to therapy a personalized assessment is done to determine a recommended treatment plan. Generally, more recent soft-tissue injuries (i.e. sports injuries, muscle and tendon tears, ligament strains and sprains, etc.) respond relatively quickly and have fewer treatments involved than with chronic or degenerative conditions or old injuries. With these types of conditions a longer treatment plan is required. Remember that this type of pain or condition did not occur overnight, therefore the rehabilitating therapy will not be a “quick fix.”
How does LILT compare with other conventional treatments?
Rehabilitation therapies – including ultrasound, interferential current, and TENS – are used extensively around the world to treat pain and stimulate the healing process. The healing effects of these treatments are limited; they only modulate symptoms assisting with pain management while the body’s healing process responds to the stimulation. Low Intensity Laser Therapy is able to address the problem directly at the cellular level. LILT stimulates an accelerated healing response, improves circulation, reduces inflammation, and increases the release of endorphins and cortisol production (the body’s natural pain relievers).
Unlike many pharmaceutical options, LILT is non-toxic; unlike surgical procedures, it is non-traumatic. Because LILT is the use of natural energy in the form of light, it is also non-invasive and can even be safely applied over existing pins, metal plates, plastics, and pacemakers.
